Church must help restore the UK, Christians challenge Prime MinisterDon't be a stranger
Steve Clifford, General Director of the Evangelical Alliance, delivered a letter and a prayer to Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street on 30 May challenging him to involve the Church in restoring our country's values.
Clifford was joined atDowning Street by Jonathan Oloyede, from Global Day of Prayer, and Andy Frost, Director of Pentecost Festival. The presentation was just one of a number of Evangelical Alliance events at the Pentecost Festival, which is led by churches and Christian faith-based organisations in London.
After delivering the prayer to the Prime Minister, Clifford was
 formally commissioned at an outside celebration on Westminster Abbey lawn, followed by a prayer walk through central London, with a focus on local, national and international politics.

Climate ChangeThe Evangelical Alliance is leading a media training day, Media Unlocked, for the church in Scotland on Tuesday 16 June, at the International Christian College in Glasgow.  This will be a one-day course designed to train and advise Christian leaders on how best to engage with the fast-changing media environment.  Leading the training on this day will be Charis Gibson, Senior Press Officer with the Evangelical Alliance; Alister Blyth, Journalist; Marijke Hoek, Forum for Change coordinator, Evangelical Alliance; and Ronnie Convery, Director of Communications with the Archdiocese of Glasgow.

Say a little prayer for refugees on 20 June

Refugee Week is a UK-wide programme of arts, cultural and educational events that celebrate the contribution of refugees to theUK.  As part of Refugee Week, 15 – 21 June, they have launched a campaign called Simple Acts.  You can change the world around you – in this case, how we perceive refugees and our broader communities - by taking part in one of 20 Simple Acts and Say a Little Prayer for refugees.  Encourage your church to promote this act by holding a special sermon on World Refugee Day 20 June.

Pray to Transform Scotland
Culture Footprint
The 13th June will see the second of the Evangelical Alliance Scotland’s Pray 2 Transform praise and prayer nights at St Ninians Parish Church in Stranraer. Working alongside a number of other organisations, the vision is to see God’s Church come together in corporate prayer and praise for the spiritual and social transformation of their communities and the nation. Further events will take place throughout 2009 in the major towns and cities across Scotland.

1. YOU. The Square Mile journal is designed for individuals to work through over four weeks. Each day includes a Bible reading, questions and reflections and simple actions suggested in response.
2. YOUR SMALL GROUP. The Square Mile DVD consists of four thought-provoking sessions, ideal for use in a home group or youth group setting.
3. YOUR CHURCH. As well as being able to adapt the material on the DVD for a Sunday, service outlines are coming soon to tie-in with the series.

Christians from across political parties and Whitehall departments along with 24-7prayer, all come together to intercede for our nation and for those in positions of responsibility. This is also a great occasion for churches to have a particular focus on praying for politics and parliament.
