What's it like working for the Alliance? by Rano

My first impressions:

Rano Ismailova, Membership Officer, Evangelical AllianceWhen I arrived for the job interview, before we began, the interviewing panel prayed for me and from that moment on I knew I really wanted to work here - in a place where they pray for you at an interview! Talk about exceeding all expectations!

Secondly, I sensed a wonderful loving atmosphere from the moment I walked in. The Alliance cultivates a relational culture in which we have fun, while managing our work well. I feel very supported by my caring colleagues and it feels like a family. This is even more evident when we go to the annual Staff Conference, which is a great time to have fellowship and meet people from our national offices, as well as walk deeper into God's purposes. We like to model unity internally, because that's precisely what we are about as an organisation.

Growth opportunities

I noticed pretty quickly that the Alliance looks after its people well, and it is officially recognised as an Investor in People. You are encouraged and supported by your team to grow and pursue your dreams and there are opportunities for personal development through both internal and external courses. The Alliance encourages staff members to bring their giftings to the table and for me this has meant leading worship at prayer meetings and the staff conference, which has helped me grow in my music ministry. Sharing skills is keenly promoted and it is wonderful to have colleagues teaching each other formally and informally.

What do I like about my job?

Since I began working at the Alliance, I have had the privilege of swapping my hats from Receptionist to become the Membership Officer. I absolutely love this job and enjoy working in an inspiring team who are committed to the vision of building unity in Christ. I love the interaction with our members, supporters and general public and I've savoured the opportunities to get involved in a whole variety of Christian initiatives. Manning the Alliance stand at events and exhibitions presents me with opportunities to build meaningful relationships with our supporters.

What's there besides work?

Spiritually, the atmosphere here is simply great! In my old place of work I used to have to crouch on the fire escape to spend some quiet time with God at lunch, but here, you have a designated prayer room. Peaceful. Quiet. Perfect! Every team in the building gathers together for weekly prayer meetings where we seek God and pray for each other. Also, once a month we all meet for a full house worship and prayer meeting, where we can be united in vision and pray for wider issues.

All in all, the Alliance has really blessed me and is a fulfilling and exciting place to work, and I would sincerely recommend it to you, as I successfully have done to my friends. Come and join us too!
