Who's who in the Alliance - Department Heads

Head of Membership and Fundraising: Ian Snares

As team leader, Ian is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for increasing the Alliance's support and membership and manages the Membership and Fundraising team.

Ian spent 12 years as an engineer and manager with Ford before training with, and working for, his church, Ichthus Christian Fellowship in South East London. He joined the Alliance staff in 2005.

Head of Public Affairs: Don Horrocks

Don Horrocks, Head of Public Affairs,spent 25 years in business in corporate banking and management consultancy. Completed a theological PhD at London Bible College in 2001 and headed up the Evangelical Alliance's Policy Commission for 3 years.

Don was appointed Head of Public Affairs for the Alliance in September 2001. He has edited books on transsexuality and GM crops and foods. A Research Fellow at London Bible College, Don is married with 3 children.

Head of Theology: Dr Justin Thacker

Dr Justin Thacker is the Head of Theology at the Evangelical Alliance UK. Justin’s first career was as a medical doctor, specialising in paediatrics. He worked in the UK for 5 years before spending a year as a doctor in Kenya. On return from Kenya, Justin embarked on a series of theological studies, beginning with the Cornhill Training Course, then a BA in Theology from the London School of Theology, and finally a PhD from Kings College London.

Justin is an Elder of the United Reformed Church, a research fellow at the London School of Theology, has an active preaching ministry, is on the council of Scripture Union and has led a Scripture Union holiday for children with special needs for the last nine years. He is married to Cathi, and has three children. In his spare time, he enjoys film, plays squash and supports Arsenal.

Senior Press Officer: Charis Gibson

Charis Gibson has a degree in media studies from the University of Ulster and a postgraduate diploma in newspaper journalism from De Montfort University. She previously worked as a reporter on the Coleraine Chronicle, Basingstoke Gazette and Daily Echo, Bournemouth, with a variety of experience from crime reporting to campaigns and features.

Her role includes devising media strategy, liasing with the media and writing. She works closely with the General Director and the Director of Public Policy.
