Welcome to Alltogether "Alltogether is another way of saying 'this is who we are and how we work'."
What does it look like when Christians work together? What happens in 21st century Britain when we do?
Since 1846 the Evangelical Alliance has been committed to a united way of working. Now, 160 years later and with more than 7,000 churches and 750 organisations linked to the Alliance, the idea of working together has never seemed so pertinent.
In fact, the idea is so crucial that we’re giving it a name – Alltogether – which you’ll see a lot more of from the Alliance over the coming months and years.
The idea is simple: to promote and encourage what we already do: networking, working together, seeing Christians work as a team to achieve a common goal, such as putting on an evangelistic event. We may have been doing this for more than 150 years, but it’s time we started shouting about it.
In recent times an Alltogether approach has proved invaluable on issues as varied as Religious Liberty and Sunday Trading. The former engaged a group consisting of both Christian and non Christian organisations committed to addressing a common concern over the dangers posed to free speech by the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill. On issues of morality, such as abortion, groups as diverse as Evangelicals, Roman Catholics and Muslims have worked collaboratively.
General Director Joel Edwards explains: ‘The Evangelical Alliance isn’t just 55 people working for an organisation. It’s a multitude of Christians, churches and organisations joined by a common drive and passion to see our nation transformed by the good news of the Gospel. We’re crammed full of gifted individuals and ministries who together speak for over one million evangelicals in the UK. That gives us real impact.
‘We have become very excited by the organic and focused relationships and partnerships among Christians that continue to blossom across the UK, knocking down those barriers between us that have so often caused mistrust and isolation. More than ever, we are committed to an Alltogether way of working.
‘Alltogether is not simply a branding exercise. It’s our ethos, a way of expressing what God is already doing amongst us. It’s another way of saying “this is who we are and how we work”. ‘If the Evangelical Alliance is who we are, then Alltogether is another way of reminding ourselves how we do it.
'I’m excited that we now have a new way of expressing what we have together — a new image and identity that encourages us to think how as members of Christ’s wider body we can each play our part in fulfilling His mission to make disciples of all nations.’
