"What is the gospel?" was the question explored during the first national consultation that took place in November 2012 as part of the Alliance's Confidence in the Gospel programme.

Leaders, theologians, evangelists and pastors from across the evangelical spectrum gathered to think and discuss this question. As you'd expect, there were many different opinions in the room, but the day was characterised by grace and an openness to learn from one another. We didn't want this to be an exclusive consultation so,we filmed the presentations that were delivered so everyone can engage with this vital question.

Below are links to videos, each with an accompanying downloadable resource, including a synopsis and discussion questions for small groups and church leadership teams. In addition there is an article that outlines some of the outcomes of the consultation and a suggested reading list for those who would like to explore this subject in more depth.

But first, you might want to read Krish Kandiah's article (What is the gospel?) that appeared in the September/October 2012 edition of idea. The article explains why it is necessary for us to consider how we understand what the gospel actually is.
