Member of the month: Kingdom Bank

Our member of the month this month is Kingdom Bank, a Christian bank using savings to build God's Kingdom.

When did Kingdom Bank start?
The roots of Kingdom Bank date back to the 1950s and we have been known as Kingdom Bank since 2005. We are still owned by the Christian charity that started the ministry around 60 years ago.

What do you do?
I'm the CEO of Kingdom Bank, where I lead a team of around 20 providing savings accounts, mortgages and insurance. Our mission is to use financial services to grow God's kingdom and change lives for good. We do this by looking after people's savings and lending money to churches, charities and church workers. We support organisation by providing helpful advice to arrange church and charity Insurance.

We look after around £50million of customer's money and are currently financing more than 200 projects that touch thousands of people. When choosing a savings account, finding out what's happening to your money isn't always a question we ask. At Kingdom Bank we tell you up front how your savings are building the kingdom. We are very keen to lend money to organisations and individuals who are building God's kingdom and also ready and waiting to give advice on the right insurance cover for churches and charities.

Where do you work?
Our office is in Nottingham from where we travel around the whole country supporting churches and charities. Most of our work is done by telephone or online with site visits for mortgages. We have a small staff team all of whom have a Christian faith, many of whom have chosen to work here because of the work we do.

What do people say about Kingdom Bank?
Some of the comments from our 2016 customer surveys have been:
″        "I have always been impressed in my dealings with Kingdom Bank."

Why are you a member of the Evangelical Alliance?
I've been a personal member for nearly 30 years because I believe in working together to spread the good news. The bank works to glorify Jesus and build his kingdom and finds like-minded members within the Evangelical Alliance. We're keen to work with them so that together we can build God's kingdom more effectively.

As a member of the Evangelical Alliance, Kingdom Bank is one of 600 organisations supported by the Alliance. We facilitate members' initiatives and campaigns and offer support to increase their impact and provide training for organisations on how to engage with the local government and media.

If you would like to become a member of the Evangelical Alliance as an organisation, church or individual, you can find out more here.
