Gweini
Gweini is the Council of the Christian Voluntary Sector in Wales. It was established in October 1999 by the Alliance, Care and Cornerstone Church Swansea. The coalition now comprises additional Christian organisations including Tearfund, Housing Justice UK, CAP and Prospects who come together to represent the Christian voluntary sector to the Welsh government, and to resource and inform churches and individuals reaching out to their communities in social action projects. The organisation has grown in recent years and now includes local Gweinis in many local authorities across Wales. Gweini is run under the umbrella of Evangelical Alliance Wales.
Gweini serves the Christian voluntary sector by:
- Representing to all levels of government
- Networking locally and nationally
- Informing about funding and best practice
