Prospects appoints an executive ambassador

Former general secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and Alliance council member, Rev Jonathan Edwards, has been appointed as Prospects' first executive ambassador. Prospects is a Christian charity for people with learning disabilities.

Rev Edwards, a Baptist minister who has served as one of Prospects' ambassadors for the past couple of years, now takes on a role that will provide spiritual oversight and work to enhance the profile of Prospects during a period of rapid growth for the organisation.

"Ever since I first heard of Prospects about 20 years ago, I have been thrilled to hear of its vital ministry," said Edwards. "Anyone who loves the gospel must love the work of Prospects, as we seek to show the love of Christ to those with learning disabilities. It will be an absolute pleasure to work for Prospects."

Rev Edwards, who lives with his family in Newbury, Berkshire, has been the general secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain for the past seven years.

Paul Ashton, Prospects' CEO, added: "We are excited about this new appointment. Jonathan's ministry has involved him in working with people from all denominational backgrounds, and I am convinced that his gifts and experience will help us as we seek to take Prospects forward."
