Winners of the Inspire Awards announced

The winners of the Inspire Awards 2012 were announced at a parliamentary reception yesterday.

The awards are held each year to celebrate the unsung Christian heroes and the inspirational work they do in communities across the UK.

Mike Hulcoop from Aylesbury won the Inspiring Individual Award for the money management centre he runs from his local church.

The Inspiring Project Award was presented to Ed Walker, founder of Hope into Action from Peterborough, which helps vulnerable adults, particularly ex-offenders, integrate back into their communities.

Martin Dickson collected the Inspiring Children's and Youth Initiative Award on behalf of Wirral YFC for the work they do to publically affirm 'young heroes' who have been an inspiration to their peers.

Gavin Shuker, MP for Luton South, congratulated the entrants and encouraged more inspired Christians to "lead with our hearts clean and our hands dirty".

The Inspire Awards 2012 was organised by Inspire magazine in collaboration with the Evangelical Alliance.
