John Forrest is about to celebrate 40 years of employment in the media - including BBC and commercial radio, ITV and BBC TV. He started with a new radio station and over the years went on to develop two passions in his programme making - music and faith. Technology has moved along dramatically during that time, but in many ways media systems and control are the same as ever. As he has been a freelancer for the last nine years his portfolio has developed enormously and he is now directing the Insight Film Festival, which wants to encourage people of all backgrounds to make films about faith. www.insightfestival.co.uk

Rachel Thorpe recently graduated from Cambridge with a degree in English, is spending a year working for Christian Heritage in Cambridge, where she organises courses and events and writes about the relationship between faith and popular culture. "In my spare time, I read a lot, write a lot, buy more books than I should, drink coffee, go to the theatre, and talk to people. I am passionate about local community, about creativity, and about encouraging Christians to approach their faith thoughtfully".

Duncan Williams is a Director on the board of Independent News Ltd. Buying up formally loss making regional newspapers, fast tracking them into profit, Duncan has gained a portfolio of titles launched specifically at improving communication within local communities. He was born in Plymouth. His grandfather was a local vicar in Cornwall. He likes old creaky films (Cliffhanger Serials from the 1930s and ‘40s, George Formby or Will Hay comedies and Hammer horror films), travel, meeting new people, understanding cultures and belief systems. He has a lifelong passion for the sea and if possible would like to run his media 'empire' from a boat; "Just like a James Bond villain”, jokes his family.

Fiona worked in publishing as a freelance artist, and has worked in media for 15 years. At Hope FM Fiona is "Jill of all trades"- presenter, host, researcher, technician and producer of her own show. Daniel Cooling studied at the University of the Arts (Wimbledon), has a degree in theology and has done postgraduate work in the relationship between theology and the arts at St. Andrews University and the London School of Theology where he is currently a part-time researcher. He has previously worked as a desktop engineer, church researcher, artist, handyman, librarian and bursar. Hence, he considers himself a jack of all trades. He lives in Oxfordshire and also works as PA to Kim Tan at SpringHill Management and occasionally preaches, teaches, lectures, serves in the musical worship team in his church and enjoys gardening in his spare time.

Shirley May is co-founder and voluntary Creative Director of Young Identity, a young people's poetry collective. She has also been part of Commonword, a literature development organisation. Shirley won the North West Poetry Slam has performed at prominent venues across the North West and works for Manchester Library Young People and Children's Services. Shirley is published in several anthologies, including The Suitcase Book of Love Poems.

Rich Cline's first job after university in California was as a graphic designer for an advertising agency, and from there he moved into copywriting before switching into the charity sector. Rich has worked in charity ever since - including 10 years as a missionary based in Miami and Yorkshire (transferred to Bradford in 1992), during which he worked in print, television, radio and the internet. Rich has been in London since 1995 as a freelance journalist, and has worked as a film critic alongside other jobs, including editor of the Alliance's Idea magazine since May 2004.

Marie Horner is a Radio Producer, Journalist and Lecturer. Since graduating in 2005 she has been working as a Broadcast Journalist and Voiceover Artist. In 2009 she graduated with distinction in a Masters in Radio Production at Bournemouth University. Marie now lectures in Radio Journalism on the Multi-media Journalism and Communications and Media degrees at the university, as well as the Foundation course at Bournemouth and Poole College. Marie lives next to the sea in Bournemouth. In her spare time she is a co-founder of an anti-trafficking charity called Cross Border Initiatives. She loves cups of tea and watching funny videos on YouTube. One day she intends to write books for children, but for now loves teaching and making interesting radio.

Charlie Ager is currently involved in the Leadership Programme run by CARE and as part of this is volunteering for a Labour MSP at the Scottish Parliament. She graduated from St Andrews in International Relations with a particular focus on human rights, human trafficking and African politics. Charlie has just signed up for her first half marathon and is currently tending to a small plot of lettuces that she has a slightly alarming maternal attachment to!

Grace Wilson graduated from the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow where her final master's museum design was awarded the RIAS Sir Rowan Anderson Silver medal and the award for Architecture from the Royal Scottish Academy. For the last 8 years Grace has worked with OMI Architects in Manchester. Her social housing scheme in Rochdale was given an RIBA Housing Design award. Recently she moved to London, setting herself up as Grace Choi Architect. In any spare time Grace acts as a trustee for the homeless charity- the Mustard Tree and enjoys running, being mum to her two lovely boys and secretly dreams of being a restaurant critic.

Rachel Brown has previously worked at the BBC and Trinity Mirror but she now works as a freelance producer for GMTV. She has a BA in English, an MA in Literature and Culture and a Postgraduate in Broadcast Journalism. Her passion is acting and performing and she could happily read scripts all day. Rachel has run drama groups voluntarily for years within her church. At present she is also writing a series of children's books, based on her two-year old daughter.

Mark Waddington has had a varied career in the media spanning radio, TV and the internet. He's presented programmes and produced them, promoted them and blogged about them. He began at BBC Local Radio in Leeds, was a continuity announcer on BBC ONE, directed Songs of Praise and has made award winning TV trailers. After a couple of years managing ITV Local Yorkshire he is now running his own media training business.

Sally Orwin works as a consultant in change and development for a range of charities, individuals and companies following ten years as Chief Operations Officer of Arca, an architectural practice she co-founded. Her family roots are in Hull, which used to have the best fish and chips anywhere, wrapped in newspaper from the market - especially before the fishing industry collapsed.  Sally is an editor of Faith in Business Quarterly, and is spearheading the development of workplace ministry with the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC) Manchester team.

His international relief and development experience includes working with Medair in Iraq and Somalia as well as providing strategy and business development advice to large charities. He was the Executive Director for Micah Challenge UK before founding ToughStuff, a social business which aims to lift millions of people out of poverty through enterprise. Andrew was one of the winners of the 2009 Global Social Business Incubator for Social Entrepreneurs sponsored by the Skoll Foundation.

Beth sits on the Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Board of Governors, representing people within her area of work. She is the organiser of the conference 'God loves the NHS'. Prior to this, she was a researcher in BBC TV and Radio. She is currently doing a Master's in 'Christianity and the Arts' at King's College London as she is fascinated by the idea of the arts as a form of apologetics. In her spare time Liz loves cooking for friends, throwing great parties, running, cycling and reading... She is passionate about authentic community and the revolutionary nature of the gospel. And other, less pretentious sounding things too, like peanut butter, for example.

Vlada Rakin is of Serbian-German and Slovak-Croatian descent. He studied history at Belgrade, theology in Norway and has a BA and a MA in religion and politics from the UK. Vlada has been unemployed since January 2009. At present he does voluntary work with destitute asylum seekers and is involved with conflict resolution. He relishes immersing himself in new cultures. He is very passionate about his food, his wife and becoming a father in a month's time.

Andy Flannagan is the Director of the Christian Socialist Movement, which is based at Labour Party HQ and Parliament. CSM exist to be a prophetic voice to left-sided politics and the church, encouraging Christians to see politics as mission. A driving passion is to see a just re-wiring of the global economic system. Andy performs, speaks, leads worship and plays a lot of cricket. His proudest moment as an Irishman was captaining England's Barmy Army during the last Ashes series.

Steve embarked on teacher training at Carnegie School of Physical Education. He taught for five years in Longford School in Hounslow, later becoming Head of General Education at The Feltham School. In 1985 he decided to leave this promising career in education to pursue his passion for the church and become a Christian worker. Since then, Steve has worked in a variety of church roles, including many, but not exclusively, amongst the Pioneer network of churches, March for Jesus movement, chair of the leadership team for Soul Survivor and Hope 08. He is now the General Director of the Evangelical Alliance.

Luke Walton is the Arts Development Officer at Bible Society, and part of the 'Bible advocacy team' to help change the public perception of the Bible and reconnect our wider society with God's word. His work has included Christmas installations, commissioning theatre work, engagement with many artists. This year he and his co-producers Jonathan Brown and Jackie Sheppard were awarded Best International short film at the 168 film festival in LA for their film 'Unscripted'. Central to this public theology development work is the cultivation of a biblical worldview in politics. David is originally from Bootle in North Liverpool, and thus, naturally, he supports Everton.

Trevor Cooling has been in education most of his life. After leaving University he taught biology and RE in secondary schools. Then he led the work at The Stapleford Centre for 18 years, involved in a range of activities including resource development, teacher training and advising government as well as completing a PhD. Following that he worked as a theology lecturer in the University of Gloucestershire and as the schools adviser for the Diocese of Gloucester. He currently leads the Transforming Lives Project, an interdenominational initiative to promote teaching as a Christian vocation.

Geoff Hall is the Arts Development Officer at Saint Stephens in Bristol, facilitating an Arts Mentoring Group. At St Stephens he runs a monthly cafe meeting called the Tree House. This creates a space for presentation, performance, critique and prayer, as well as reflection and meditation. He also coordinates Artisan in the Bristol Area, connecting with particularly new artisans, meeting them for coffee, seeing how they are doing and asking if there is anything they need prayer for, as well as entice them to the next prayer event. Geoff studied Arts in Bristol and Exeter. He is a writer and director for Handy Cloud Productions, a new Bristol-based film company.

Andrew Graystone is the Director of the Churches Media Council, a national body that builds bridges between the Christian community and the media. He aims to support Christians working in the media, and challenge the media industry to live up to its high calling. He regularly writes and presents programmes for BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4, including Daily Service and Sunday Worship. He also trains and advises Christian groups on how best to engage with the fast-changing media environment. Andrew worked for BBC Religion for over a decade, as a producer and as Development Executive. He stood as a Labour Party candidate in the 2005 General Election, though can't altogether remember why. When the sun shines Andrew supports Stockport County FC, because God favours the weak.

Daniel Webster studied European Politics at the University of Nottingham, worked in the House of Commons for a Member of Parliament as part of the CARE Intern scheme and then studied for a Masters in Political Theory. He is the Evangelical Alliance's Parliamentary Officer for Westminster, working on a variety of issues relating to British politics and the Christian faith. At the moment his major focus concerns the role of local churches in alleviating debt in their communities. He also works with the All Party Christians in Parliament Group on the annual week of prayer for Parliament. In his spare time he enjoys baking, walking and cycling, including on one occasion cycling 150miles in a day for charity.

Her work is based in Wythenshawe, a large social housing estate in South Manchester where she lived for nearly 10 years. She has a Masters in Youth & Community Work. Anna is a regular contributor to BBC Manchester's Thought for The Day and Sunday paper review. She is married to another youth worker and they are kept busy with the life of their street and neighbours in East Manchester.

In the mid 1990s he led a project developing small businesses in the Palestinian territories. In 2004 he joined Transformational Business Network. He now leads TBN work in Palestine and helps TBN members use business to alleviate poverty.

Israel Oyelumade is an actor, who recently starred as Olaudah Equiano, the freed African slave who became one of the leading black figures in the movement to abolish the slave trade, in the theatre production of African Snow. He worked as an Artistic Director of Brighton Dome Youth Theatre, which stands as a product of excellence and professional industry for young hopefuls. Israel is an Ambassador for the Prince's Trust.
