Tonbridge Debt Advice Centre

Motivated by our Christian faith, and inspired by the example of Jesus, TDAC exists to serve the whole community regardless of race, creed or gender. We are an independent charity providing advice and practical assistance to all who find themselves in debt or financial difficulty. TDAC is registered with AdviceUK and a member of Community Money Advice. The service is completely free and impartial and is funded by the churches of Tonbridge acting together, and by the largest local social housing provider who refer tenants who are in rent arrears to the Centre.
We are just in the process of setting up Sevenoaks Debt Advice Centre as a branch of TDAC which is being run by the churches in Sevenoaks. The two centres jointly employ a Case Manager and together have over fifty volunteer advisors. We have established excellent working relationships with local housing associations, councils and the Citizens Advice Bureau. When our clients have to attend court, in respect of housing repossessions and bankruptcies, advisors will accompany them. We now receive referrals directly from the court when they consider plaintiffs need further advice.
In this past year we have seen substantial sums of debts written off, grants obtained and benefits backdated. In a number of cases we have seen issues of significant injustice being rectified.
