Cambridge Papers Open Day: 4th May 2009
International economist Dr Paul Mills is to address 'The Economy in Crisis: A Biblical Diagnosis and Foundation for Recovery' at the Jubilee Centre's Open Day on Monday 4th May. We therefore warmly invite you to join us for what promises to be a stimulating occasion, during the course of which there will be plenty of opportunity for interaction and discussion with Cambridge Paper authors, during both formal sessions and breaks.
A wide range of topics will be covered in parallel seminars throughout the day, led by members of the Writing Group and guest authors (e.g. Professor John Coffey on Liberation Theology, Dr Nigel Paterson on Christian Higher Education, and Dr Denis Alexander on Transhumanism (human 'enhancement')). Some of these will provide the chance to consider and discuss recent Cambridge Papers; in others, new topics will be addressed. The day will finish with a plenary question and answer session.
The Open Day is scheduled to run from 10.15am to 4.30pm at Eden Baptist Church, in the historic city of Cambridge and lunch will be provided. To request further details and help us plan catering, please register your interest by contacting us.
In order to allow as many people as possible to join us for this much-anticipated event, there is no fixed charge. However, for those who are able to make a contribution, we invite a suggested donation of £20-25 - donate online or by post. Further details about the event will be sent nearer the time to all registered participants.
Whether your interests lie in education, science & technology, government & foreign affairs, or worldviews & culture, the day is sure to include something for you. Why not make a weekend of it and book into a hotel so you can explore Cambridge at its best, when all the gardens are in bloom?
Author of a number of past Cambridge Papers, including The ban on interest (1993), Investing as a Christian (1996), and Globalization and the world economy (2003), Dr Mills has worked at the UK Treasury and the UK Debt Management Office. He currently works for the IMF, where his interests include global financial stability, the US financial system, innovative risk transfer, climate change and financial markets, and Islamic finance.
