Evangelical Alliance calls Christians to pray over SORs debate
Press Release
Christians should join in prayer as the House of Lords makes a decision on the Sexual Orientation Regulations
20 March 2007
Christians should join in prayer as the House of Lords makes a decision which could have an historic impact on the legal landscape for British religious liberties, the Evangelical Alliance has said.
The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007, which were passed in the House of Commons yesterday, will go to the House of Lords for debate tomorrow (March 21).
A prayer vigil, organised by Christian Concern for our Nation, is being held outside Parliament from 7pm to 9pm tomorrow, during the debate.
Dr R David Muir, the Evangelical Alliance’s Director of Public Policy, said: “We want to encourage Christians to pray, because this could be a significant moment for religious freedom for Christians and other people of faith.”
The Evangelical Alliance has been working with others to brief Lords and encourage them to participate in the debate. Alliance staff will be watching the debate closely and will publish updates afterwards.
