Hello and welcome to the Parliamentary prayer update, my name is Gareth Wallace and I work in Westminster for the Evangelical Alliance Public Affairs Department.
15 April 2008
An Agenda for Change
Joel Edwards will be making a final tour as General Director of the Evangelical Alliance, connecting with Alliance members to explain and explore the contents of his new book An Agenda for Change.
In the book, Joel issues a call for unity amongst evangelicals and argues that Biblical witness is not called to tip-toe through the 21st century, but to transform society by presenting Christ credibly to the culture. He sets out a new vision for evangelicalism, reclaiming the idea that evangelicals are a 'good news' people called to a long term vision for spiritual and social change.
Please pray: For Joel as he tours the UK in his final months as General Director, pray that churches and individuals might be inspired to become the change they want in society

London Mayoral Hustings Event
The Evangelical Alliance and Premier Christian Radio are sponsored a Hustings event for the London Mayoral Candidates kindly hosted by St Martin-in-the Fields Church which took place on the 23rd April.
Hundreds of Christian Londoners came and listened to the London Mayoral Candidates and asked their questions
Please pray: That the candidates will listen carefully to Christians in London and that the future Mayor will work closely with the churches in London.
On Pentecost Sunday, May 11th from 3.00pm - 5.30pm, 30,000 people will gather at Millwall Football Stadium for the Global Day of Prayer. This promises to be a key event in the country during the year of Hope08. The Millwall event will involve prayers for child trafficking, knife and gun crime, countries in crisis, church unity and for young people.
Please pray:
That the event planning for this epic prayer gathering will run smoothly and that the Stadium will be packed with praying Christians on the 11th May.

Gareth Wallace
I have worked at the Evangelical Alliance for the last four years as Parliamentary Officer but the time has come to more on to pastures new. I am leaving the Evangelical Alliance on the 24th April and will be moving on to work as Public Policy Manager for Faithworks on the 1st May.
It has been an enormous privilege to record this UCB parliamentary prayer update each month for the past four and a half years. Thank you so much for listening in.
Please pray for me as a move into a new job in new organisation, pray that I might find my feet quickly and that I might be able to effectively represent Christians to Government for Faithworks in the same way I have been doing for the Evangelical Alliance for many years.
Please pray for all those engaged in the political process, not simply MP’s and Peers, but for the Press and Civil Servants as well. Pray that they might feel inspired in their careers and that their different yet complementary roles have the power to encourage good governance and hold the powerful to account.
Finally, please pray that future generations will be inspired to become the leaders, campaigners and concerned citizens of tomorrow. That in the words of Micah they will act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God.
