Evangelical Alliance response to the resignation of the Rev Haggard
Statements
National Association of Evangelicals in the USA
07 November 2006
The Evangelical Alliance in the UK is saddened to hear of the circumstances under which the Rev Ted Haggard has felt compelled to offer his resignation as the President of the National Association of Evangelicals in the United States.
Rev Haggard has given invaluable service to the National Association of Evangelicals and to the evangelical Christian movement.
As Christians, we acknowledge that we are all capable of moral failures.
However, we also believe that the Bible holds Christian leaders to higher levels of accountability.
We will be praying for the Rev Haggard, his wife Gayle, and their children.
