Fifty Shades of Grey and the Conscience Clause
This week's video blog looks at consent, choices and
consequences when it comes to the Valentine's weekend release of 50
Shades of Grey. The movie, like the book, could establish new and
unrealistic norms for some relationships that are deeply unhealthy. The
need for the church to model and teach about healthy relationships
becomes all the more important. David discussed these themes in more
detail on Radio Ulster’s Talkback show yesterday.
We then look briefly at the Conscience clause being proposed in Northern Ireland in response to the Ashers case. We discuss the problem, the process and the path forward. EA will be responding formally to the consultation and will we publish our response on our website soon.
