In areas of the world that are so inaccessible with little or no infrastructure, how do
you get to those people waiting, waiting for food, waiting for medical care and often unknown to themselves; waiting for God to reach into their lives and make that physical and spiritual difference? The short answer is Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), flying very small light aircraft MAF working in partnership with over 1000 agencies deliver what is needed on a regular and sustained basis.
Serving in the developing world MAF is often called upon to fly into areas that no one else would or who would even consider, areas recovering from civil war or unrest, famine and disease, education and evangelism in fact whatever the need we answer that call, from either one small voice in the wilderness or from a nation crying in despair, we are there, we are ready flying into what can only be described as basic rudimentary airstrips carved out of the sides of mountains, scrub bush land and even landing on water using float planes.
What is the motivation for what MAF does? As Christians we believe that we have been called to reach to the very ends of the earth, often to places where the Christian community in Scotland know little about. Scripture is littered with challenges to go, to meet the needs of the impoverished, the poor, the lame, the sick and the isolated to name but a few and we believe that we have responded to those challenges.
How can we as an organisation continue to respond to the requests that we receive on a daily basis from those we work in partnership with, how can we continue to meet the needs of the people groups who are dependant on MAF being there? Again like the earlier question it is simple, PRAYER. Prayer is by far the engine room of all that MAF endeavours to carry out in Christ's name. We raise that dedicated prayer support from individuals like you, people with a heart of compassion. We work closely with a committed and dedicated team of volunteer's who take this amazing ministry and message to the Christian community around
the country. In short it is a collective effort, what part can you play in this vital life saving and life changing work?
Whether it is with MAF or any other organisation it is all about doing it together, there is strength in numbers, there is power in prayer, we can and we will continue to make a difference through 'Flying for Life', play your part.
