Don't be a Stranger
The Alliance will be exploring issues of community cohesion and immigration over the coming months as part of its ‘Don’t be a Stranger’ campaign launched at Temple Address. The centrepiece of the campaign is a photographic exhibition highlighting churches, Christian organisations and individuals that help migrants in the UK, as well as the experiences of migrants themselves. These stories and associated resources can be found on www.nostrangers.org.uk.
The aim of the campaign is to use the stories to inspire the British public to welcome the stranger in their midst, whilst also collecting a database of resources which can be used by churches and individuals as they reach out. As a leader the Evangelical Alliance hopes that you can help provide some inspiring stories for the campaign, either from the work you do or from people around you. We would also like to challenge you to take the lead in your community, in the run-up to Christmas, bywelcoming those who may feel marginalised and far from home to join you in your celebrations. This season of goodwill presents an incredible opportunity to be champions of mercy and provides a great way to build community.
We hope that your actions will inspire others to do likewise. The Don't be a Stranger photo exhibition will tour the country in 2009 and is available for bookings. If your church or organisation works with migrants, we encourage you to submit your resources and stories for inclusion on the website. Photographs can be sent to the Evangelical Alliance, in digital or printed format, with a short story describing your experiences. These pictures and stories will be added to the photographic exhibition as it tours the country. Contact nostrangers@eauk.org for more information.
