Slipstream Extra: Ruth Bancewicz 

A November 2009 extra Slipstream interview with Ruth Bancewicz on science and faith, and the Faraday Institute's resources for church leaders called Test of Faith.

Ruth has worked on the Test of Faith resources designed specifically for churches to engage with, and take a balanced approach towards, issues surrounding the interaction of faith and science.

What do you most hope Test of Faith will achieve?

I'd love for it to have satisfied some of the hunger people have to tackle these issues. You can tell when you put on a seminar at Spring Harvest and see the number of people that arrive, it's very rare for these things not to be a pack out. You can tell from that that people are really hungry to hear about these issues. I would love for it to have dispelled some of the anxieties about them. People feel as if it's going to open a can of worms and it will hurt their faith somehow. I'd love to help people to relax about it and realise that they can take in some of the scientific background, we can present it to them in a way that they can take it in, and that they can think about it.
