Jesus - 'How Radical was Jesus?' by David Hilborn 28 Jul 2006
Today, we tend to see ‘radicals’ as people who are unconventional, idealistic and uncompromising. People who want to shake up institutional structures and political systems. People ready to change the world, and to change it fast. Radicalism doesn’t have to be ‘left-wing’, but it often is. Individual desires are sublimated for the sake of social justice. Inequalities of wealth, class, race, gender and education are ‘levelled’.
Ecclesiology - 'Evangelicals and Ecclesiology' by David Hilborn 27 Jul 2006
Evangelicals believe in the Church. Not only that: we believe in one Church. As ‘Bible folk’ we get this from Scripture (Eph. 4:4-6). As orthodox believers, we derive it from the creeds. Even if we haven’t heard the term, most of us would back good ecclesiology - a decent doctrine of the Church. But there’s a problem. The theory doesn’t match the reality. On the ground, we find ecclesiology difficult. At times, in fact, we are rather embarrassed by it.
