A debate about faith and education on 3 March at the National Assembly for Wales.
01 March 2010
Does God have a place in the Welsh classroom?
This provocative question is being debated at the National Assembly of
Wales’ Ty Hywel building on 3 March at 1200.
Hosted by the National Assembly for Wales’ Cross Party Group on Faith,
the event will be chaired by Darren Millar AM for Clwyd West. The main speaker
will be Bishop Gregory of St.Asaph and the debate will be of particular
interest to anyone concerned about the relationship between religion and
education.
Jim Stewart, National Liaison Officer for Evangelical Alliance Wales
said: “In the week that we celebrate St.David’s Day, this is crucial subject in
the development of education in modern Wales. This nation has been profoundly
influenced both by the Bible and innumerable outstanding Christian leaders, so
we need to get this right for our children and young people.
“The signs are promising. Ed Balls, the UK
government’s Children’s Secretary has recently signalled that faith schools in England will be
allowed to give their own perspective on sex education in parallel with the
national curriculum.”
The debate will take
place on 3 March at Ty Hywel, starting at 1200 and finish at 1.30pm. For

Stewart on j.stewart@eauk.org or ring
