Uniting to Change Society

We believe that  the  church is God's chosen organism to  change society. To achieve this the church must proclaim and demonstrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ whilst being rooted in a contemporary understanding of the Kingdom of God at work in society. The Kingdom is not merely about future events, but is also the church's agenda for transforming individuals through Jesus Christ(John 3:3-8). The Kingdom is God's ultimate movement for changing society always working towards total transformation (Rev 11:15). As the Alliance in Wales we believe God has called us to facilitate such a movement.

Evangelical Alliance Wales' Mission and Vision Statement:

‘Uniting to change society'. Our vision is to unite as Evangelical Christians to change our Society by 'presenting Christ credibly as Good news' through:

  • Communicating biblical truth through a united voice of Evangelicals to the National Assembly and Media
  • Evangelism
  • The transformation of communities'

Our aim will be achieved if as Christians throughout Wales we increase in our influence upon society, individuals and communities. We will function as an effective body we take seriously the commission God has given his Church to transform the nations from the bottom up. The specific way in which we are engaging with society, individuals and communities is as follows:

'Uniting to change society', Evangelical Alliance Wales aims to:

1. Influence Society

Through a united Christian Voice to the National Assembly

The Evangelical Alliance National Assembly Liaison Office works to raise the profile of Christian salt and light in the development of policy in the National Assembly for Wales and in Welsh Local Government. It produces both briefings for Assembly Members and seeks to develop relationship with Assembly Members. It also produces resources to enable churches to Engage in the political process and become part of a bottom-up movement impacting the nation. A critical part of the National Assembly Liaison Office’s work has been setting up with Care for Wales, Tearfund Wales and Cornerstone Church Swansea ...

Gweini (Council of the Christian Voluntary Sector in Wales). Gweini's two-fold role - representing the Christian Voluntary Sector to the National Assembly and restoring churches to engage more effectively in their communities - facilitates church to become a powerful influence upon Welsh society from the grass roots as 'salt and light'.

Through a united Christian Voice in the Media

As well as providing a voice of evangelicals in the Welsh media, our Media Voice Team facilitates training for local churches to engage with the media in their locality.

2. Facilitate Evangelism

Through the mobilisation and co-operation of Christians throughout the nation to engage in the evangelisation of Wales

Evangelical Alliance Wales is working with other agencies and Churches to facilitate Waleswide, the church planting and strengthening initiative.

3. Influence communities

Through the mobilisation and co-operation of Christians throughout the nation to engage in social action initiatives

Gweini promotes inter-church co-operation in order for us to become the salt and light God intends for us to be. As we serve our communities with youth work, lunch clubs, parent and toddler classes, credit unions, soup runs, and drug rehabilitation work for example, we believe we can move together from social action to social justice - part of the transforming process our nation needs.

Jesus Christ is the hope for our nation. His gospel is heralded and demonstrated as we engage effectively with society, individuals and communities through the Movement God ordained - his Church.

In order to realise this vision we believe local church leaders must prioritise on reaching and releasing young people into effective Christian living and leadership. Evangelical Alliance Wales, working together with Ignite Cymru, Crusaders Cymru, YWAM Cymru and Connect, has spearheaded  new generation leaders - a youth-mentoring initiative.
