The Consultation
In November 2005, over 200 Christian leaders from all over Wales gathered in Newtown, mid Wales, for a church planting consultation. Convened by Baptist minister David Ollerton and National Director of Evangelical Alliance Wales, Elfed Godding, the leaders considered the challenge of strengthening existing churches and co-operating to plant new churches around the nation, expressed in David Ollerton's booklet 'Waleswide'.
Following an overwhelmingly positive response from the consultation, David, Elfed and a small team of leaders set up a working group which led to the formation of Waleswide Cymrugyfan as an independent registered charity.
Waleswide facilitates the planting of new churches in Wales and the strengthening of existing ones where appropriate. It seeks a cooperative effort among evangelicals throughout the nation to achieve this.
Waleswide works with church groupings and networks that share its values and doctrinal distinctives whether within and outside the denominations both Welsh and English speaking.
