Walking the walls of London

London churches will unite to pray around the circumference of the city and its 33 boroughs - 120 miles in six days.  Walk the Walls, 25-30 May, organised by youth evangelism charity Sublime, is a week of prayer walking, intercession, celebration and outreach around the capital.

In 2012, participants spent the six days leading up to the Olympics walking around the edge of London in the same way.

During the days walkers will be divided into two teams: a power team and a presence team. The power team will walk a faster pace and ensure that they cover every footstep of every mile around the route.

The presence team will stop to pray as God directs them, talking and praying with people in the streets of different areas. This team, along with Sublime's xBus, will visit pre-planed town centres along the route and will be joined by local Christians to engage with each community through healing on the streets, face-painting and giving away balloons.

Every evening along the route, throughout the six days, a celebration will be hosted by churches in Enfield, Romford, Lewisham, Roehampton, Iver and Chesham. Local leaders will join with supporting national prayer organisations, with worship led by the Catch the Fire band, Commonwealth band and the Tabernacle band. The aim in each venue will be to worship together, love the local churches and pray with and intercede for London finishing with a huge Awaken London event on 30 May.

"We love London. Our vision is to saturate the streets, bring the Kingdom of God and cover the whole of London in prayer. We want to stir up local churches to seek God's heart for their community and to see transformation of people and places." said Pete Goldring from Sublime.

Walk the Walls 2013 will start at 8.30am on Saturday 25 May outside Soul Survivor Church, Watford. The route will go clockwise around London completing a full circuit over the six days.
