Jesus was mighty in word and in deeds and knew why He had come to earth. Mark talks about Jesus, after He had healed many, going to a solitary place to pray. The disciples find Him and want Him to perform more miracles. But note His response: ​“Let us go somewhere else — to the nearby villages — so I can preach there also. That is why I have come” (Mark 1:38). He knew that he had to share God’s good news, and offer hope, love, joy and peace to a hurting world.

At Christmastime we often feel that we should accomplish some good deed. We donate money to charity, take part in social projects, and, if we feel especially brave, put a flyer through next door’s letterbox, inviting them to a carol service (even though we haven’t spoken to them throughout the rest of the year!). But how can people know about the hope that there is in our Lord, if we don’t tell them? 

Before we start to feel too guilty, we should remember that we already have the words of Jesus. There is no better resource to help us share Jesus than Jesus’ own words! In a world that is in pain, lonely and busy, how about inviting our friends to read the Bible with us? We could start with the Christmas story, and the wise men acknowledging Jesus as the true King who brings hope, love, joy and real peace to our lives.

Roedd Iesu yn nerthol yn ei weithredoedd a’i eiriau ac yn gwybod pam ddaeth o i’r byd. Mae Marc yn son am Iesu, ar ôl iddo iachau llawer, yn mynd i le unig i weddio. Mae’r disgyblion yn dod o hyd iddo ac eisiau iddo wneud mwy o wyrthiau. Ond sylwch ar ymateb Iesu: ​“Gadewch i ni fynd yn ein blaenau i’r pentrefi nesa, i mi gael cyhoeddi’r newyddion da yno hefyd. Dyna pam dw i yma” (Marc 1:38). Gwyddai fod rhaid iddo gyhoeddi’r newyddion da, a chynnig gobaith, cariad, llawenydd a heddwch i fyd oedd yn brifo.

Adeg y Nadolig rydyn ni’n aml yn teimlo y dylen ni wneud rhyw weithred dda. Rydyn ni’n rhoi arian i elusen, yn cymryd rhan mewn prosiect gymdeithasol, ac, os ydyn ni’n teimlo’n arbennig o ddewr, yn rhoi ffleiar trwy ddrws cymydog i’w gwahodd i wasanaeth carolau (er ein bod heb siarad â nhw trwy’r flwyddyn!) Ond sut all pobl wybod am y gobaith sydd yng Nghrist, os na ddywedwn wrthyn nhw? 

Cyn i ni ddechrau teimlo’n rhy euog, cofiwn fod geiriau Iesu gynnon ni! Does dim adnodd gwell i’n helpu i rannu Iesu na geiriau Iesu ei hun! Mewn byd sy’n brifo, yn unig a phrysur, beth am wahodd ein ffrindiau i ddarllen y Beibl gyda ni? Gallen ni ddechrau gyda stori’r Nadolig, a’r doethion yn cydnabod Iesu fel y gwir Frenin sy’n dod â gobaith, cariad, llawenydd a gwir heddwch i’n bywydau.

Os am adlewyrchu Iesu y Nadolig yma, peidiwn â gwahanu gweithred a gair.
