Church leaders are being encouraged to join their peers for an overnight conference that seeks to help ministers of the gospel release and channel the power within their congregations.

As the body of Christ in a country that is presently trying to break through a whole host of challenges, including those around uncertainty and division, Evangelical Alliance member Share Jesus International (SJI) has sensed that it’s the right time to hold the Ekklesia conference.

It is SJI’s first event of this kind, and it will bring together interdenominational leaders and speakers from the Baptist Church, Church of England, the Methodist Church, New Frontiers, Pioneer, Elim and elsewhere for a programme of prayer, worship, teaching, storytelling, and more.

SJI’s director, Andy Frost, commented: For almost 2,000 years, groups of Christians have gathered in many different spaces, from people’s homes to ornate cathedrals to underground caves. There is something vital about gathering together as followers of Jesus.

As an organisation, we are passionate about equipping the local church for mission. We are thrilled to be coordinating Ekklesia because it will help local churches to learn from a variety of church networks and to think through how they can strategically use their gatherings for the greatest impact.

The Ekklesia Conference, which is aimed at church leaders and leadership teams, aims to provide practical insights and a heightened sense of purpose in the power of gathering together as church to see the UK transformed by the gospel.”

Heads of initiatives that were developed through the Evangelical Alliance will be among the speakers who will share their experiences and insight with attendees. These include Roger Sutton, who leads the GATHER movement and directs Movement Day UK; Manoj Raithatha, national coordinator of the South Asian Forum; and Dr Krish Kandiah, founding director of Home for Good.
