     #### The UK welcomes its fifth prime minister in four years. We are living through a time of community division and political instability. It is important that those in high office understand the incredible ministry of churches and organisations across the country.

 

  Since the 2024 election, the Evangelical Alliance have sought to build constructive relationships with the Labour government. I have attended several roundtables at 10 Downing Street and have been part of discussions on the rise of Christian nationalism in Britain. I have also held separate meetings between Baroness Maeve Sherlock, Lord Khan of Burnley and Miatta Fahnbulleh MP for Peckham with evangelical leaders when they each held the faith brief.

As The Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP takes office, I have written to ask if he will meet with evangelical leaders to hear how they are helping to strengthen community cohesion at a time of polarisation and fragmentation across the UK.
