Peter Lynas, Danny Webster and Zanna Meynell discuss this week’s headlines. In the introduction they cover Reform meeting at Church House, student loan controversies and the selling of Brewdog.

They then turn to the Gorton and Denton by-election that saw Hannah Spencer win for the Green party with a significant 40.7% of the vote. This raises questions for the future of the Labour government as there is a splitting of the left vote. Should Christians vote Green? Do we know enough about all their policies? The polarisation in our politics continues to grow and impact all areas of society – how do we navigate this within our churches?

Conversation then zooms out from domestic politics to the global stage. The team discuss the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Why did things escalate to that point? How as Christians can we respond to it? The team reference a previous episode in which David Yeghnazar of Elam Ministries was interviewed. With the world feeling increasingly volatile, this brings a unique opportunity to point others to Christ.

The episode concludes with a discussion about assisted suicide. Danny explains what is happening with the bill in Westminster, and the team explain why it is such a critical moment for the assisted suicide bill in Scotland. It is a key moment for the church to be praying.
