On 2 June 2026, Peter Lynas and Danny Webster were joined by Rev Dr Helen Paynter to discuss how the rise of Christian nationalism in cultural commentary is affecting local communities and church fellowship.

Following the first Unite the Kingdom rally, Peter Lynas, UK director at the Evangelical Alliance wrote a commentary on the different types of nationalism and following this year’s Unite the Kingdom and the West rally wrote a further reflection, titled ‘[F](https://beinghumanlens.com/articles/from-rainbow-flags-to-national-flags)[rom rainbow flags to national flags](https://beinghumanlens.com/articles/from-rainbow-flags-to-national-flags).’

The webinar covers topics of national identity, belonging, power and Christian witness in public life. But more importantly, presents a missional moment for the church to teach the ways of Jesus and the kingdom of God — it’s a discipleship moment for both believers and society more broadly.

This recording was the first in a two-part series where on Tuesday, 16 June from 7pm we will be hosting an online conversation on Islam in public life and British politics. [You can register here](https://www.eauk.org/what-we-do/events/islam-challenges-questions-and-gospel-opportunities).
