All the details you need to know about the Public Leader: Scotland course

Apply for the Public Leader: Scotland course

Applications for the Public Leader: Scotland 2019 – 2020 course have now closed. Applications are still being accepted for England and Northern Ireland.

We have three 24-hour residential weekends, each taking place at Crieff Hydro in Perthshire. These will take place on:

  • 12 November 2019
  • 311 January/February 2020
  • 2930 May 2020

Participants in this cohort will be asked to contribute £650 towards the programme, but bursaries are available in cases of financial need.

The Public Leader: Scotland curriculum is shaped around four core themes: character, calling, competency, and culture, each of which are addressed at the residential weekends by senior leaders from across Scotland.

In addition to the teaching weekends, participants will be invited to take part in discovery events throughout the programme. These discovery events allow us to meet leaders in their context, and to understand some of the spheres that shape Scottish culture. In previous years we have visited BBC Scotland and the Scottish Parliament for a greater understanding of media and government, as well as a visit to Ross County FC in Dingwall for a fantastic example of sports, community and business leadership in rural Scotland.

Participants will be invited to join the PL:S network – a community of all those who have been involved in the programme as participants, mentors and speakers. The network have three different events a year, including a Saturday masterclass. Last year’s masterclass was led by Dr. Krish Kandiah and looked specifically at communication.
