General election prayer series

Join with us as we pray through our General Election prayer series

Each Thursday we offer a new prayer for the General Election. We would love for you to join with us in coming before God our Father to ask for His peace, grace and guidance during a difficult time for our country.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

With a General Election announced and agreed for Thursday, 12 December, the next six weeks will be filled with campaigning, announcements and rolling news coverage. We are committed to encouraging Christians to engage in the election, and that engagement should start with prayer.

Dear heavenly Father, in this time of uncertainty, may we continue to look to You for help and direction. Please assure us of Your steadfastness and remind us that You are with us at all times – sustaining us and upholding us.

Prepare us as we face changes and challenges in the weeks and months ahead and prepare this nation with your unending peace and perfect love.

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
'May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
and security within your citadels'
For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, 'Peace be within you'."

Psalm 122:6-8

God, our Saviour and our King, we know you hold the universe in your hands and are sovereign over all. We thank you for your grace and mercy in our lives and in our world.

We give thanks that you are not troubled by the things that trouble us, and we place our trust in you as our King of kings. Lord, let us place our faith fully in you and not in political systems and processes. We pray for your will to be done and your kingdom to come.

"I lift my eyes to the mountains –
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth."

Psalm 121:1-2
