Fusion invites students to #TryChurch

Alliance member Fusion is encouraging students to #TryChurch this year.

The student mission body says the "experience generation" should be invited to experience church.

Churches are being urged to invite local students to try them out.

Luke Smith, Fusion team builder, said: "We've spoken to so many students who aren't Christians this year and they are very open to trying a church.

"Up to one third of the freshers we spoke to were interested in trying a local church if they were invited.

"The question is, will you help us invite them to your church?"

One student from Exeter shared her experience of a friend being invited to #TryChurch: "One of my friends was talking to his housemates about God, and his housemate said: 'If you come to the gym every week, I'll come to church once.' So my friend started going to the gym each week, and brilliantly, his housemate became a Christian the first time he came to church!"

Fusion want to partner with local churches to help with stalls at Fresher's Fair this autumn.

They have also produced resources to help churches find ways of supporting and discipling students, including through welcoming students and working alongside the Student's Union.

As a member of the Evangelical Alliance, Fusion is one of 600 organisations supported by the Alliance. We facilitate members' initiatives and campaigns and offer support to increase their impact. Member organisations have an opportunity to speak to the media on behalf of our membership, as we direct media and information enquiries to member organisations best placed to deal with them. The Alliance also provides training for organisations on how to engage with the local government and media.
