Matthew Horspool

Matthew Horspool has been the Sight Loss Friendly Church advisor at Torch Trust since 2019. Blind since birth, he grew up in a Christian household and spent most of his early life pursuing a career in computer science. He is also an accomplished musician, singing tenor in the choir at Coventry Cathedral. He lives independently and is passionate about making the world more accessible for blind and partially sighted people. He has a particular interest in, and fondness for, braille, and enjoys finding ways in which braille and technology can complement each other. He spends most of his spare time travelling around the UK, undertaking musical engagements and visiting friends.

30 August 2021I admired the strength of his faith, but would I really be able to see in heaven? I spent the remainder of my dinner break pondering his assertion. It’s not something I’d ever thought about before, and I can’t say I was especially comfortable with the concept.
