Nick Graves

Nick has been pastor at Old Lodge Lane since 2010. He and Louise have been married since 1996 and have four daughters, Jessica, Lydia, Emily and Rachel. Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church is a small church on the outskirts of London, serving a compact but culturally diverse community - mainly white working/middle class but with a high proportion of people from Asian, African and Caribbean backgrounds. Before entering the ministry, Nick worked as a Crisp Taster for KP Foods on Teesside for nine years. His calling is to "minister to the whole community and not just those who come to Sunday services".

Creating a culture of family

25 April 2018A while ago I asked God to show me how we can join him in building our community into a family. I have since discovered that it's a complex process, but at its heart is a simple ethic: one of inviting people inwards. As well as Sunday worship, we have a variety of events that extend that invitation – fun days, festivals and suchlike – but our most fruitful approach is through our fortnightly Thursday Tea: a free meal that brings together the whole community.
