Evangelical Alliance launches new Discovering Jesus resource suite for South Asians exploring the Christian faith

The South Asian Forum of the Evangelical Alliance is pleased to announce the launch of Discovering Jesus, a comprehensive new suite of resources designed to support those of Asian heritage who are curious about or actively exploring the Christian faith. This thoughtfully developed collection includes an eight-part weekly video series, an in-depth leader’s guide, and a participant’s guide, all created to help individuals engage with the message of Jesus in a way that is culturally relevant, accessible, and meaningful.

The first edition of Discovering Jesus was launched in 2014, this updated and expanded suite of resources seeks to build on the foundational work of the original content and offer something that is helpful, impactful and timely in this cultural climate. The new Discovering Jesus resources have been created specifically with Asian audiences in mind, recognising the diverse spiritual and cultural backgrounds that shape their questions and perspectives. The course is suitable for anyone seeking to understand key Christian beliefs – whether they come from a background that is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, or Jain traditions, or identify as agnostic, atheist, or as having New Age beliefs.

Rani Joshi, South Asian Forum co-ordinator and project lead, said of the resources: “As a young South Asian girl, I wasn’t sure the Christian faith included someone who looked like me. That’s why Discovering Jesus feels so timely, as we explore faith, identity and culture. As I prayed about this project, I sensed God whisper, "invite them to the wedding banquet’ (Revelation 19:9). This isn’t just another resource it’s an invitation for those of Asian heritage to answer the question Jesus asks, 'who do you say I am?'”

Each session invites participants into open, reflective conversation, encouraging them to explore their own experiences while engaging with the life and teachings of Jesus. Over eight weeks, participants will be guided through essential biblical themes, helping them consider who Jesus is, why He matters, and how His message speaks into their own personal story. The accompanying leader’s guide provides structured support for facilitators, while the participant’s guide offers space for personal reflection, discussion, and deeper exploration.

Gavin Calver, CEO at the Evangelical Alliance said: “I am so excited about the launch of Discovering Jesus and am praying for this course to have a huge impact in the days ahead. It is so timely and shares the gospel message in a really accessible, helpful and powerful way.”

The Evangelical Alliance has developed Discovering Jesus to be used in churches, small groups, and community settings, as well as by individuals seeking a self-paced introduction to the Christian faith. The resources aim to foster understanding, encourage dialogue, and provide clear and compassionate answers to some of the big questions people bring as they begin their faith journey.

About the South Asian Forum

The South Asian Forum, set up in 2010, exists to connect and support the UK’s growing South Asian church, to enhance its impact within the wider church and to equip the church to confidently understand and engage with the diversity of different South Asian faiths and cultures, as well as welcome and disciple South Asian believers. We hold events to encourage church leaders and members of their churches to embark on greater cross-cultural engagement in their local communities, with a particular focus on loving our South Asians neighbours well. In addition, we host and support the South Asian Forum Leaders Network (SAFLN), a group of church, organisation, and ministry leaders and enable church communities and individuals to eat together more intentionally, to strengthen relationships, deepen friendships, create tables to share Jesus, and more effectively build bridges between communities.
