Spiritual Curiosity: a Christian guide to understanding the world of crystals, manifesting, tarot and sharing faith in this moment
The Evangelical Alliance launches a free guide offering practical ways to share the Christian faith with the spiritually curious.
We’re living in times of spiritual openness, but it’s not just Christianity that people are exploring. This curiosity is splintered in all directions, including alternative spirituality, with practices like tarot, manifesting, and crystals. As Christians, we have an opportunity to make Jesus known to people who are open and searching but looking in the wrong direction. This resource seeks to do just that. Complete with a short, practical guide that seeks to shed light on what New Age spirituality is, an exploration of the cultural moment we are living in, and a biblical perspective on what we are seeing, as well as suggestions for pastoral and evangelistic responses. Along the way, you will find real-life stories of spiritually curious people who have found Jesus.
Katherine Brown, co-lead of Being Human, said: “Whether it is the pub down the road offering a psychic night, Dua Lipa talking about manifesting her Glastonbury main stage or Ariana Grande describing herself as “a literal witch”, it’s clear we’re living in a time of real spiritual curiosity. Rather than being fearful as Christians, we should be confident that we have good news and a better story to offer a searching and spiritual open culture, and this resource is a great tool to help build that confidence.”
Rachael Heffer, the Evangelical Alliance’s head of mission, said of the new resource: “At the Evangelical Alliance we are passionate about equipping the UK church with insights as to how people of all ages are coming to faith today. Recognising that so many are open to conversations, spiritually curious, and that our conversations have impact, we hope that this resource will provide individuals and church communities with greater confidence to share Jesus with those who are searching for truth and meaning.”
