Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot– yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord… In that day the heir of David’s throne will be a banner of salvation to all the world. The nations will rally to him, and the land where he lives will be a glorious place.” Isaiah 11: 1 – 210.

God, blessed are you who brings forth fruit from the vine (John 15:5). We praise you for the fruitful work that you are doing in and through the Evangelical Alliance and our member churches. God, we pray that you would nourish the ministers and organisations that work diligently to provide comfort, shelter, food, heating and biblical teaching throughout the winter season.

Would you grow our wisdom, discernment and compassion? God, blessed are you who leads us on paths of righteousness – through the valley of the shadow of death into glorious light (Psalm 23). There is comfort in your presence. In the midst of chaos, God, you lead us beside quiet waters and calm pastures where our souls find rest.

Thank you for walking with us through seasons of waiting, wonder and prayer. Thank you for being our Good Shepherd – gathering us into your arms and carrying us close to your heart (Isaiah 40). God, would you keep our minds in good company. Let not those who follow crooked trails steal our blaze. We are blessed because your word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105).

May our words be worshipful and our walk bear witness to you, the Light of the World, the Bright Morning Star (John 8:12, Rev 22:6, 1 Peter 1:19). Thank you for making beautiful the way of those who believe in your word.

We love you, amen.
