Millions of Christians around the world are being persecuted for their faith today. In India, they are attacked by extremists emboldened by their government’s hardline views; Chinese churches are seeing their buildings torn down and pastors arrested, while in Nigeria the slaughter of Christians by armed militant groups continues unabated.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the needs and inadequate in the face of growing oppression, but there is something you can do!

On Sunday, November 15, the members of the Evangelical Alliance’s Religious Liberty Commission – Open Doors, CSW and Release International – held a special online event to pray for the persecuted church around the world.

Watch the video below, recorded on this year’s International Day of Prayer for the persecuted church (IDOP), and pray with us.

We hosted an inspiring evening of prayer and video testimony from India, Nigeria and China. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions the focus of this year’s IDOP was an exciting online event.

In these extraordinary times that we live in, it’s easy to concentrate on our own needs and concerns and forget our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world for whom the coronavirus is just one more challenge. IDOP gave us an opportunity to refocus our thoughts and our prayers and stand in solidarity with those who are paying the highest price for the Christian faith.

If you would like to pray for persecuted Christians, more information about IDOP as well as special prayer resources can be found at www.releaseinternational.org, CSW and Open Doors.
