The cultural moment we’re living in is one of remarkable spiritual curiosity. The new atheist movement now looks like a temporary phenomenon. However, it is not just Christianity that people are turning to in their search. The spiritual curiosity is splintered in all directions. For some, the hunger for the transcendent is leading them to alternative spiritualities, trying out things like tarot cards, crystals, manifesting and psychedelics.
This is the moment many churches are navigating right now. The question for many people is no longer whether God exists; the question now is – which god?
This booklet is a short, practical guide that attempts to define what New Age spirituality is, while unpacking the cultural moment we are living in, and offering a biblical perspective on what we are seeing. At the end, we suggest some pastoral and evangelistic responses. Along the way you will read real stories of spiritually curious people who have found Jesus.
Our hope is simple: that you finish this booklet feeling more confident and compassionate, and better equipped to engage with this cultural moment of spiritual curiosity.
