Christian Education at Home Resources

May we be encouraged by Jesus’ vision for our children (and us!)

Jesus replied, The most important one is Israel, listen! Our God is the one Lord, and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, You will love your neighbour as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.” (Mark 12:29 – 31CEB)

  • What’s In the Bible — From the co-creator of VeggieTales, Phil Vischer, this show puppets and animation to tell the whole story of Scripture, going through each book of the Bible. It helps children (ages 4 and up) to understand both the big picture’ and each book, as well as tackling more challenging questions around science, suffering, historicity, sin etc.
  • The Jesus, Story Book Bible — Using simple but beautiful animation and illustrations, combined with the profoundly inspirational and exegetical text written for children; this Bible helps children (and adults) grasp the Bible as the story of God’s love for them through Christ Jesus.
  • Theo — A high-quality animated series that uses stories to explore theological themes (hence the name) for children including forgiveness, redemption, justification, adoption, new birth etc.)
  • Torchlighters — Animated stories of heroes of the faith’ including more ancient (Perpetua, Augustine) ones, those from the reformation time (Tyndale, Luther) and also more modern (Tubman, Liddel, Wormbrund) ones as well as others. This is for older children given the themes, perhaps 8 – 10+ depending on the child.

General Education at Home Resources

Every child is unique, including in their educational needs so as we get more involved in a day to day basis with our children’s education — we have a real opportunity to explore what a tailored education looks like for them.

We know our children best, what they like, what they don’t, how they tick’ in lots of other ways, so trust your instinct (and theirs!) on what that might look like in education. Perhaps talk with them about what topics they would like to study and ones you are interested in as well.
