Build Your Own Mentoring Programme

A year-long support journey, rather than a one-off course, helping churches design, launch and sustain their own mentoring programme.

Every church wants to mentor young people — and individuals of all ages — well. Not many have the time or structure to make it last.

That’s the gap Nicodemus’s Build Your Own Mentoring Programme (BYOMP) was built to close — and we’d love your help getting it in front of the churches in your network.

BYOMP is a year-long support journey, not a one-off course. It helps a church design, launch and sustain a mentoring programme, or enhance one that’s already running, supporting young people — and individuals of all ages — through youth work, a community café, foodbanks, homelessness support or wider outreach. Nicodemus walks alongside them throughout, so mentoring is intentional, ethical, relational and sustainable. And it ripples outward: support an adult well, and young people often benefit alongside them.

That breadth is exactly why we think it’s worth putting in front of your whole network, not just the churches with a dedicated youth ministry — it’s as relevant to a church running a foodbank or a community café as it is to one focused on youth groups.

Over the year, hands-on support includes:

  • Six bi-monthly consultations for their Programme Manager — covering everything from the foundations to sustainability
  • Five fully-funded places on our Foundational Specialist Mentoring Course for volunteer mentors
  • Two online mentor workshops alongside other churches
  • A Community Consultation Guide to understand local need
  • Seven ready-to-use mentoring resources
  • Ongoing support all year, through our Programme Manager app — bookings, resources, mentor courses and direct chat, all in one place

None of this is sign-up-and-figure-it-out. Their Programme Manager gets a dedicated, personalised app that guides and assists the whole journey — accessible on computer, tablet or phone, whenever it’s needed. Consultations and their matching handbooks are released two months at a time, so nothing lands all at once, with real people from our team — not just documents — on the other end of the chat.

And if a church wants to train more mentors than the five funded places cover, additional course places are available through the app at a reduced rate.

Right now, bursary-supported places mean each church can access a £1,040 bursary, bringing the monthly contribution down to just £25 (or £120 self-funded) for the year — making this affordable for many churches.

We’re pushing further into networks and denominations this autumn, and nothing we send carries as much weight as a recommendation from someone churches already trust. I have attached a one-page PDF that’s easy to forward, print, or drop into your own newsletter — would you share it, or the link below, with the churches in your network?
