And He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). As I open another Christmas card reminding me of the verses in Isaiah 9, I stop to consider whether Jesus has been my prince of peace during this tumultuous year. Have these verses just become familiar verses or a nice song from Handel’s Messiah? In this year of turbulence, what has the prince of peace meant to me? Has the prince of peace been a reality in my life, in the day-to-day living, in the daily challenges? Has He been prince of peace when everything we have considered as normal has been turned upside down, when we have lost so many things – jobs, security, loved ones? For me, this year has been one of conflicting emotions, a year I have desperately sought Jesus as prince of peace. When anxiety and worry have tried to overwhelm me, I have had to declare Him as prince of peace over my circumstances, even if I have not felt it. I have declared the truth of His promise that He is the prince of peace in all situations. He is Emanuel, God with us, and He will keep in perfect peace whose mind is fixed on Him and who trusts in Him (Isaiah 26:3). Let’s take these promises with us into this season of Advent and live in the promise of peace which Jesus so freely gives us. #### “Achos mae plentyn wedi cael ei eni i ni, mab wedi cael ei roi i ni... A bydd yn cael ei alw yn Strategydd rhyfeddol, y Duw arwrol, Tad yr oesoedd, Tywysog heddwch.” Eseia 9:6 Wrth imi agor cerdyn Nadolig arall sy’n f’atgoffa i o’r adnodau yn Eseia 9, dyma fi’n oedi i ystyried p’un ai a fu Iesu yn Dywysog Heddwch imi yn ystod y flwyddyn gythryblus hon. Tybed a ydy’r adnodau hyn wedi syrthio i’r rhigol o fod yn ddim byd mwy nag adnodau cyfarwydd neu’n anthem adnabyddus o’r Messiah gan Handel? Mewn blwyddyn anarferol o ansicrwydd, gofid a phoen, beth mae Tywysog Heddwch wedi’i olygu i mi? A ydy Tywysog Heddwch wedi bod yn realiti yn fy mywyd o ddydd i ddydd, trwy’r heriau dyddiol? A ydy E wedi bod yn Dywysog Heddwch pan fo popeth y buon ni’n ei ystyried yn normal wedi’u troi ben-i-waered ac wedi inni golli cymaint o bethau – swyddi, rhyddid, sicrwydd… ac anwyliaid? I mi, mae eleni wedi bod yn un llawn emosiynau gwrthdrawiadol; blwyddyn lle fues i’n daer yn ei geisio Fe fel Tywysog Heddwch. Pan fo gofid a phryder wedi ceisio fy llethu, rwyf wedi gorfodi fy hun i ddatgan mai Fe sy’n Dywysog Heddwch ar fy amgylchiadau i gyd, hyd yn oed os nad dyna o’n i’n ei deimlo. Dwi wedi datgan gwirionedd Ei addewid, mai Fe ydy Tywysog Heddwch ymhob sefyllfa. Ym mlwyddyn yr annisgwyl, dwi’n ddiolchgar, ei fod yn ein hatgoffa adeg y Nadolig, mai Fe ydy Tywysog Heddwch. Fe ydy Emaniwel, Duw gyda ni ac y bydd y ​‘rhai sy’n dy drystio Di yn gallu bod yn hollol dawel eu meddwl’. (Eseia 26:3).
