It was lockdown eve. Boris had just begun his broadcast announcing the nation would go into lockdown. My fiancée and I, six weeks away from our wedding day, looked at each other and said, "Shall we just get married now?"

After tying the knot with just two witnesses and my dad marrying us, shivering in a little white dress I pulled out of the back of my wardrobe and a key ring on our finger, the responses from friends, family and even strangers in the following weeks was, Wow – well that is real love.” To see a couple put aside the excitement of the wedding dress, the flowers, the suits, the detailed plans and frills of a wedding to do what was originally intended, get married, showed people a sense of real love’.

Do you find at Christmas we sometimes get distracted with the detailed plans and frills and forget its original meaning? It was at Christmas that God showed His love for humanity by sending His Son Jesus to earth as a baby, so that He might grow into a man who would later die a criminal’s death to take our sin so that we might have eternal life. Wow – well that is real love.

This Christmas, as you enjoy the plans and frills, why not take a moment each day, perhaps when you hear Last Christmas on the radio or when you turn off the Christmas tree lights last thing at night or even each time you eat a pig in blanket, to thank Jesus that He came at Christmas to show us real love.

Roedd hi’n noswyl y cyfnod clo. Dyna lle’r oedd Boris yn dechrau ar ei ddarllediad i gyhoeddi fod y gwledydd hyn ar fin mynd i gyfnod clo. Edrychodd fy nyweddi a finnau ar ein gilydd – roedd hi’n 6 wythnos cyn ein diwrnod priodas – ‘Beth am briodi nawr ‘te?’

Wedi clymu’r cwlwm cariad â dim ond 2 dyst yn bresennol, fy nhad yn ein priodi, finnau’n crynu mewn ffrog fechan wen a gefais hyd iddi yng nghefn y wardrob a chylch allweddi ar fy mys, roedd hi’n ddifyr gweld ymateb ffrindiau, teulu a dieithriaid, hyd yn oed, yn yr wythnosau canlynol – waw, dyna be’ ydy cariad go iawn!’ Roedd gweld cwpwl yn rhoi heibio holl gyffro a thrimins priodas – y wisg, y tusw a’r blodau, y siwtiau a’r cynlluniau manwl — er mwyn cyflawni’r union beth a fwriadwyd yn wreiddiol, sef priodi, wedi cyfleu ymdeimlad gwir gariad’ i bobl.

Ydych chi’n darganfod, adeg Nadolig, fod holl gynllunio manwl a thrimins y Dolig weithiau’n tynnu’n sylw oddi wrth gwir ystyr yr Ŵyl? Mae’r gair Nadolig’ yn dod o’r Lladin am benblwydd – dyma pryd y dangosodd Duw ei gariad at y ddynoliaeth trwy anfon Ei Fab, Iesu, i’n daear ni i’w eni’n fabi, er mwyn iddo dyfu’n ddyn a brofodd farwolaeth troseddwr, i gymryd ein pechod ni, fel ein bod ninnau’n cael etifeddu bywyd tragwyddol. Waw – dyna be’ ydy cariad go iawn!’

Y Nadolig hwn – wrth ichi fwynhau cynlluniau ac allanolion yr Ŵyl, beth am gymryd seibiant bob dydd, p’un ai wedi ichi wrando ar Un Seren’ ar y radio, wrth ddiffodd y goleuadau ar y goeden Nadolig cyn noswylio neu hyd yn oed pob tro y byddwch chi’n cymryd llond ceg o gacen Dolig – ystyriwch am ennyd, a rhowch ddiolch i Iesu am ddod aton ni y Nadolig cyntaf hwnnw i ddangos gwir gariad.
