The Evangelical Alliance is preparing our response to the Scottish consultation on charity law.

The Evangelical Alliance is responding to the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) consultation to ensure well run charities with good governance are free to serve their communities in accordance with their Christian faith and for the benefit of all Scottish society.

The OSCR is looking to clarify and stabilise its position to the Scottish government, as well as respond to recent developments from the rest of UK law, thereby bringing the regulator more in line with the Charity Commission in England and Wales.

We believe that Christians are good news for society and should be free to serve, free to present their faith and free to be demonstratively Christian in a plural public square.

Our response to the consultation will be to advocate on behalf of the thousands of charities seeking to be salt and light in Scotland, and to raise a voice of caution where proposals may bred uncertainty and statutory overreach, or creep of disproportionate regulatory powers.
