I didn't really have time to
00:02
think about church.
00:05
I always thought that I was a believer
00:08
and didn't have to go to church to believe.
00:11
My name's Lucy
00:12
and this is my story.
00:14
My life before I became a Christian
00:17
was pretty full on
00:21
and whilst the church was always there in the background,
00:27
life overtook all of that,
00:29
life, career, marriage, children.
00:32
The thing that led me to explore my faith
00:34
in a deeper level
00:36
was the fact that my husband had a massive stroke
00:39
in January 2015
00:41
and he was then diagnosed with Parkinson's on top of that
00:45
and life was very, very difficult for us.
00:48
I cared for him for two and a half years
00:51
and there were some very, very dark moments.
00:56
At that time I was quite angry
00:59
and depressed and just very low.
01:03
'Cause I didn't see anything
01:05
in our future, our future was great
01:08
until this happened to Neil
01:09
and it was like somebody had pulled the rug
01:11
from under our feet
01:12
and our life changed in that instant.
01:14
And after his stroke,
01:16
I stumbled or was guided
01:19
towards Christ Church Felixstowe
01:22
and my life changed from then
01:26
and it took off in a whole different direction.
01:29
It was just the whole enveloping of love
01:33
and support from everyone.
01:36
It lifted me because my caring role
01:39
was very, very intense,
01:42
very, very difficult because of my husband's needs
01:44
which were 24/7.
01:46
Because of Neil's illness, I think,
01:49
that my Christian life
01:53
I suppose took off.
01:55
It was at 10:50 on the 5th of August
02:01
which was the last worship day of New Wine
02:04
and it was then that I asked God to forgive my sins
02:07
and decided that I wanted to give my life to Jesus
02:11
and every day I take the opportunity
02:15
to follow Jesus.
02:16
New Wine was an awesome experience for me,
02:19
nothing like I'd ever experienced before.
02:21
The whole worship singing, praying, mind blowing.
02:26
I began to pray differently,
02:29
not for material things for me
02:31
but just to have God in my life
02:34
and to guide me towards Him.
02:37
Jesus has been so supportive to me too
02:39
and has wrapped me up
02:41
and comforted me.
02:43
I don't know what I'd do now
02:45
without God in my life.
